Alf Edmund Hansen (July 9,1934 - July 26, 2018) Alf was a master craftsman at the early age of 15, having been schooled in Denmark as a carpenter and furniture maker. After arriving from Denmark at the age of 17, Alf spent 9 years in Edmonton, but settled in Parksville, BC for the past 50 years. He built hundreds of homes as well as some commercial buildings in town. In 1970, he started the Englishman River Inner Tube Race. He was active with saving the Parksville Estuary from further development and created the Friends Flats Group to raise awareness. He was also involved with the Nature Trust of BC, the Parksville Fish and Game Club, and of course, our Danish Canadian Club. Alf is survived by Margit, his wife of 59 years. Remembrances - ære være hans mindeWe are sad to learn of the passing of our member Lars (Lasse) Erik Christensen on May 16, 2018. Lars relocated to Ladysmith in 1967, where he worked as a carpenter and construction superintendent. He is survived by Rosa, his wife of 65 years.
