2020 HERITAGE BOOK - PRE ORDER NOW!
Hello Members & Friends,
Each year the Federation of Danish Associations in Canada publishes their Heritage Book and even though their 2020 AGM & Conference was postponed until next year (May 27 - 30, 2021 in Nanaimo). They are still going to publish a 2020 Edition of the Heritage Book, but they would like to know how many copies to print. For that reason, they are asking us to "pre-sell" copies and let them know our numbers before September 30. The format of the book is 8 1/2" x 11" and the 2019 Edition was over 230 pages so it remains exceptionally good value for the money. The cost of the 2020 Edition is $15 per copy. Details of the book are in the message below and in the attached document as well. To reserve your copy, please call or email to Tom Hedekar at 250-390-2388 or tom.hedekar@telus.net . You can pay for your order when it arrives and we'll make arrangements for either pick-up or delivery at that time.
Cheers, Tom Hedekar
What's included in the 2020 Heritage Book?
The publishing of the popular Heritage Book is traditionally done in
conjunction with the Annual Danish Canadian Conference. The arrival
of the Covid19 virus triggered the cancellation of the 2020 Conference
in Nanaimo, and therefore the publishing of the 2020 Heritage Book was
placed on hold.
We do have a great 2020 Heritage Book ready to be published! I have
attached a listing of the many fascinating articles and remarkable
biographies which are in this year's book.
We are excited to include a special article featuring Knud Rasmussen's
Fifth Thule Expedition across Arctic Canada by dog sled. This article
was specifically written for the Heritage Book by arctic expert Kenn
Harper. The photo on the cover is an impressive photo of dogs and
sleds from the Fifth Thule Expedition, reprinted by courtesy of The
Arctic Institute in Copenhagen. The book also contains a host of
obituaries which are so significant in remembering the many people who
have lived and contributed to the Danish community in Canada. Once
again, the Heritage Book is just over 200 pages in length, so this is
not a slimmed down edition.
In the past, the norm was to publish 500 Heritage Books each year but
that was at a time where the books sold at the many Danish events. As
many of the member clubs and organizations are following the many
restrictions under Covid-19 times there are very few events permitted.
We have therefore decided to restrict the printing of the 2020
Heritage Book to the number of pre-ordered books.
I hope we can count on you once again to sell this year's Heritage
Book and place an order for the number of books you require. The
deadline for ordering is September 30, 2020.
In advance, thank you for your continued support by selling the
Heritage Book. Your interest and assistance are very much appreciated.
Yours very truly,
Rolf
